Have you ever been the athletic type or super good at sports?

I’ve never been good at sports. I never even played them in High School, but I do go to the gym and workout daily during the week, though because I do see it as necessary to stay healthy.

Excelled at gymnastics, best in weight class for wrestling. Lived and Loved being fit until October of last year, when a disc in my lumbar area herniated. Waited until January to do anything. Four surgeries later, I'm stuck in a wheelchair in a rehab facility. But it's not so bad. I have a private room. I'm surrounded by cranky WWII veterans (WWII has always been a fascinating subject for me. Enjoying the remainder of my time here listening to stories) and cute nurses who haven't had a younger patient... EVER.

And while it's only been half a year, it feels like several years have passed.

Wow! I’ve always wanted to try gymnastics, but was too afraid to get hurt so I just always watched it on TV instead hahaha!

Nope. Not in school, anyway. I was the skinny, uncoordinated kid with bifocals. I also had zero stamina thanks to all the indoor second-hand smoke at home. I got winded far too easily. It was yet another reason why everyone in HS thought I was anorexic. Strangely enough, though, I was very strong for my size, and still am. So now I do things that don't require a lot of coordination or grace, like weightlifting.

A lifetime year round athlete from 7-20, bouncing from one sport to the next, then tennis in my early 20’s but found rugby at 23 and played it year round for the next 23 years ... I’m still a gym rat but that and golf fills my tank year round these days in my 60’s

I was always good at sports. I was even somewhat good at the ones I didn't practice at that much. I was always really good at baseball and football (American). I wasn't a good dribbler in basketball, but I was always a good shooter. I was always good at handball. Paddle ball. I only played tennis like maybe 2 or 3 times, but I was good. I've always had pretty good hand eye coordination and a knack for "sports intelligence" in seeing what can happen before it does. I was able to anticipate things in terms of spacing of players and "calculating" probabilities of passes in basketball and football and when and when to not do something and stuff like that. I was always one of 2 people always picked first in team sports in schoolyards for softball and football. I played organized baseball from little league to college. Sadly, the Yankees did not come calling lol

I'm good at video games too lol. Also some card games. I'm also a pretty good shooter with guns.

People who weren't on my team in softball in the school yard kind of hated me. Every time I got up I hit a home run. It got to the point where me and this one other guy would hit the ball into the school yard "gap" that was to right field. It was like maybe 400 ft. Just to make it interesting and making them chase the ball. Sometimes we would just hit singles and doubles to make the game more challenging. We normally just hit home runs to center field because it was the furthest part with a gate. It was about 250ft or so and when we hit it over the gate it also went across the street over the trees and hit the apartment building. We made left field a double because it was too easy. I kind of miss those days of being out there all day until it got dark.

I don't know if I'd say "super good", I mean I don't wear a cape ?

I joined a track club when I was 10. By the time I reached middle school, I could run faster than anyone at school. Although my hand-eye coordination wasn’t great, I lettered in four sports (volleyball, basketball, softball and track.) In high school I focused on cross country and track. Made it to State Championships three years in a row. Only ran a few 10Ks after high school, plus fun runs. Fell in love with trail running in Colorado high country. Also Mtn biking and skiing - downhill and cross country. Haven’t done much team sports as an adult. Fully pedestrian these days.

Yes. Past : Volleyball team. Won both knock-hockey and jacks tournaments. Pretty good at tennis. Lone time runner. Done some rock climbing and zip lining. And play a pretty good game of racquetball a couple times a week ! Along with much bicycle riding .

I skipped my way through high school, danced around hall monitors, hopped into my car when no one was looking, and raced away from the place that refused to teach...

I was an athlete in my youth and worked as a fitness trainer. I still do extreme training, gymnastics, weights, cross fit. It complements my life as an academic for a holistic approach.

I’ve got no speed or agility, can’t run/jump/climb for shit. I blame it on the scars on my calves where mom kept putting socks too tight on me as a baby for a while and it cut off the circulation. I get shin splints within the first few hundred yards if I try to run.

Ive got good aim/strength/coordination. I was good at half court basketball. Now I lift weights, do yard/farmwork, yoga and practice with martial arts weapons for exercise. Swimming and drumming are the most fun ways to exercise if I can swing it but I don’t often get to do either at the moment.

I was raised with 5 boys and learned and played just about every sport. Not to mention jumping trash cans on bikes we put together by garbage picking the parts lol. As a single mom when my boys were growing up I taught my sons how to pitch, catch and steal bases. Btw, do you know how scary it is squatting down with a catchers mitt on and telling your 6'4" 225lb teenager to throw a fast ball at you! Lol.

When I was in the 6th grade, I was not thought of as a good kick ball player until one time when I nailed the ball and it went sailing. After that, I was always one of the first people picked. That was my academic sport highlight.

0

Sure. I was a pretty solid athlete. Played football and hockey primarily but wrestled and did about 7 track events, some at a decently high level. University teams were options for me but I didn't have THAT much drive and the scholarships are lame for athletics in Canada. Hockey was the only sport I was driven enough to even consider and none of the paths to the pros were college/university. I was smart enough to realize my chances were not good enough at a career in sport.
I used to do the odd triathlon when a buddy was entering one that was going to be near where I worked and he could bring me a bike.
I still play hockey a few times a week, golf and occasionally find a softball or volleyball league to join.

Sports kind of always been the focal point for me so I do whatever whether I know the rules or not but where I grew up we had to participate in everything or we didn't have enough for a team.

0

Nope. I have never been really good at things that require good coordination and dexterity.

0

I was ok, but never excelled, at quite a few (enough to make the team), soccer, tennis, table tennis, cross country running, sprinting

Played Rugby for house & school for five years.

I’m passably good at most sports but never really had the drive to take it to the next level. There are just too many more interesting things to do with my time.

0

I played racquet sports enough for rec league level, but I was not an athlete. Satisfied my competitive urges via chess, debate, and pocket billiards - and I was pretty good at each.

0

Tried out for basketball, once - made statistician

1

When I was in school I played tennis and swam. I was awesome at swimming. I did freestyle and backstroke. Some butterfly. So so at tennis. Good enough to make the team anyway.

0

I played football, fast-pitch softball, volleyball, and racquetball -- was a decent player, but never a super athlete. I still lift heavy weights at the age of 81

0

I was always uncoordinated as a teenager. I didn't much like to p;lay sports with the exception of swimming.

0

Yes, I was in soccer, softball, cheerleading, track, gymnastics, and bicycling, but was also into art, drama, languages and debate. I used any free time I had in school to do extracurricular activities. I’m not so motivated these days lol
