LINK Going towards theocracy in Alabama.

They are trying to make it legal to post 10 commandments everywhere in Alabama, hoping for a federal ruling once we have our new supreme court justice nominated.

I wonder which version of the ten commandments they will choose? They're not all the same you know. They will have to choose one version and discriminate against all the others.

Of course they are! Look for enforcement of blasphemy laws coming to southern states near you any day now! ?

People can post the 10 commandments where ever they want as as it is entirely financed with private sources.

See what happens if Humanists, Atheists, Jews or Muslims try to erect non religious monuments on public (everyone’s) land. All hell would break loose. With hundreds of church properties in every town and city, there is no need for their legends on public land. And it is settled law, barring the Republican desire to rollback the Constitution.

But not if it is displayed in a public place that is paid for and maintained by taxpayer money. That is why it is controversial. Can you imagine the outcry if verses from the Koran were displayed there even if the project was privately funded?

They are talking about public places and publicly funded.

Are we becoming a Margaret Atwood novel?
