I saw this Christian named Zig Ziglar post this on Facebook: be yourself, don't be someone you are not so people will like you, so the right person will like you. Zig Ziglar died of pneumonia in Texas. So you learn from Christians and non Christians alike or are you of the herd mentality? The atheist herd mentality is liberal, "socialist", left wing nuts. Don't you think someone has to grow the food you eat at subway or a slaughter the cow you eat at McDonald's?

@Atheistman -- I have grown the stuff you eat at Taco Bell, and I've slaughtered the beef. I have hunted for food in interior Alaska, and lived off the land with no electricity, or gas, or running water. I've served my country when crap was actually flying. I am also a person whose political notions lean to the left and a supporter of democratic socialism. I think you ought to be a bit more attentive and watch out for making push broom generalizations.

@Atheistman That's like saying that horses and sheep are the same because they both have hooves. Communism is an authoritarian system that dictates all aspects of peoples lives while socialism is simply a system in which a society provides for the well being of it's citizens.

Zig Ziglar was a great motivational speaker. I used to follow his work, and it's sad that he died.

I'm not sure where you were going with the rest of your post, but it sounded like it was intended to be insulting, specifically calling out atheists on a site aimed mostly at agnostics and atheists, Atheistman. This led me to wonder if you were playing undercover Christian, and took a look at your profile to see if there was anything that would support my suspicion (which, of course, is unprovable at this point and possibly never provable - and there is a distinct possibility that my vague suspicion is unfounded).

Your position seems highly similar to the alt-right, despite the plethora of insulting-sounding statements about Christians.

You're almost as new as I am, and I just got here today. I kind of wonder why you came to a board with a lot of skeptics and logical thinkers, but I don't really have to know. Maybe I'll find out for sure eventually. Maybe not.

I understand your meaning on herd mentality. I've found that a lot of atheists are also liberal. I think it is a result of a lot of academics being both. They lead the liberal herd, so to speak, as many people become liberal in college. More people have gone to college in the last two generations, thus leading to an increase in both. Generationally, this may lead to a paradigm shift on multiple fronts. I hope it leans more toward atheism than liberalism. If I must choose, I prefer facts govern my life, not other peoples feelings.

What if other people's feelings are reflective, either directly or indirectly, of the facts that govern everybody's lives?

Then they are in the majority and by societal standards they would be correct, as long as there is corroborating evidence to support their position.

First your post makes no sense. You start by teaching about learning from different perspectives, then you interrupt yourself to insult atheists and liberals, and lastly you finish on what I guess is extolling the necessity of agriculture. This schizophrenic rambling, if not schizophrenia itself is usually a good indicator of meth use, either situation is a good reason to completely ignore the rambling but I want to comment on the second topic (third?)

Considering the existence of the evangelical right, which calls itself a flock, adding what is called the alt-right in which doesn't accept dissent, continuing with the block voting of Republican congressmen, still more with the irrational unwavering support of Trump I consider any individual right wing person calling the left a herd is beyond stupid its just silly.

Perhaps he's just naturally incoherent?

@shockwaverider there's a word for that; schizophrenic

@JLFowler There isn't enough evidence to diagnose him as a schizophrenic.

Good advice is still good advice.

Gross! Yeah, going green and switching to more sustainable food sources is a better idea, but I get it.

Someone has to maintain the infrastructure, pave the roads, wire the houses and install the plumbing, although using solar and recycling water seems wiser.

I dated a man for two years who could do it all, and I greatly admired him..he could build, remodel, or fix anything, and was a computer whiz as well.

Sadly, he was very chivalrous, doing everything for me, and taking over if I asked for advice, so when he left I felt great relief at buying my OWN tools and doing my own repairs, etc.

I felt totally helpless with technology for a few months until I learned how to program everything on my own again.

This is so non sequitur that I think 7 or 8 shell fish should do the trick.

@Atheistman it's really non sequitur as a body of text. There may be much inference between each full stop, but the text reads "quote from man. Man died somewhere of something. Can we learn from religion? We probably should. If you're reading this you might have undesirable attitudes. Abattoirs exist"

Non sequiters don't matter in this context if the points are made. That's just arguing for using extra language when it is unnecessary. I don't understand why people expect a full dissertation to be posted on forums. Could it have been written better? Yes. Does it matter if it conveys the points? Not really.
