It is unfathomable we don't have a national health care system, and it shouldn't be on the backs of employers. That was and is a horrible idea. If all employers said they were out of the health care business, it would change fast. Wages might even go up.

It's totally immoral & hard to imagine how it could happen in a country that most citizens believe is the richest in the world.
That example could never happen in Canada.

I think we've dropped to 26th as a ranking for our health care system. It's obscene the wealth and benefits gap in this country.

I do not understand the psyche of so many Americans when it comes to "entitlements.." So many other industrialized nations have good health care for all their citizens at much lower costs through universal health care. Similarly almost all of those countries also have a universal retirement system at reasonable cost which provides a decent standard of living for ALL of its elderly.

If those doubters really understood, they would support such programs and they would kick the damned bums out who try to con them into not really understanding what is best for them.

@Veteran229 built those systems when they also had to pour billions of dollars into reconstructing their countries after World War II. We afford it, and we should do it. But, at the same time, we should stop wasting money in areas we do not need, like Trump's idiotic wal and providing welfare for our richest corporations and people. l.

@Veteran229 Could we have done a much better job of building a healthcare system? No doubt! The problem is that with massive Republican resistance, the ACA was the best we could enact.

@Veteran229 Not accurate. Republicans have always resisted any government sponsored healthcare program and did their damnedest to keep the attempt which produced the ACA from being successful. That IS why we have the ACA instead of something better.

Those doubters are still waiting for Reagan's 'trickle down' affect to get to them.
Someone said ' life is hard & it's even harder for the stupid'.

@Veteran229 ,
'Socialist nonsense'?
Funny how some people will always find ways to blame 'socialism' for all the shortcomings in their lives & country.
In their brainwashed minds any country that doesn't have an obscene income inequality gap & allow CEOs to make 350 times more than their employees (in Europe & Japan it is 50 times) must be socialist. Any country that doesn't have for profit health Care system run by greedy sociopaths must be socialist.
Face the truth: the American people failed to elect honest reps which would have paid heed to Eisenhower's warning about the Military, Industrial complex.
They had their economy hijacked by a bunch of greedy psychos many decades ago & are now facing the dire consequences.

@Veteran229 You deliberately misrepresent the facts. These are not socialist countries, but democratic nations with mixed economies. They are mixtures of government sponsored programs and free enterprise. You should be more ethical in your statements.

@callmedubious What is worse, they choose to be stupid.

@Veteran229 ,
Are you aware that there is over 1 trillion $ gone missing from your from the already trillions wasted on imaginary threats to peace?
All that wasted money could have been much better spent on a more inclusive healthcare system.
Again, I ask you just who the fuck should we be spending/wasting more money to defend ourselves against?
And which threats to peace has your mighty armed forces saved us from since Korea.
Certainly not the ME where you have bombed the hell out of some backword countries,& killed countless civilians, that don't even have an the means to defend themselves.

This is why America needs universal health care for all. A national shame.
