As I said in another thread about empathy, going in a Walmart makes me feel like I am visiting someone in prison. This news only confirms that. The employees don't want to be there and neither do most of the customers, who are too poor to shop anywhere else. Both the employees and customers have this broken, defeated looks on their faces, hence the prison comparison. One thing tho, I went off on a rant in one after they got rid of most of the cashier lines and replaced them with self scan lines. I was even cussing a blue streak about how shitty the company was and nobody said shit to me or threatened to make me leave. Because they already know what the shoppers think of their stores and company and don't give a shit, unless the shopper is discussing a protest or a boycott.

I made a comment in a HyVee about not wanting to use a self check line because it was taking away someone's job. What I didn't notice was the manager on the floor right next to me. He assured me it was only for peak times to get customers in and out more quickly. Yeah right buddy.

@HippieChick58 Yeah, he's lying. I'm retired and have all the time I need to wait, so I won't use a self-check line. It's my sort of passive way of standing up for my fellow humans that need jobs, futile as my protest may be. So few people realize that by using the self-check they are making a political choice against other workers. Hell, every choice we make about where we shop-local vs. corporate chain, what we spend our money on- amounts to a political choice that has consequences...

The only thing that will make most of this moot is if we get a UBI, a Universal Basic Income, which would replace work for financially supporting the population that are unemployable due to outsourcing and automation.

I have been in any of their stores and also Sam s club etc in 12 yrs . When I found out how they treat workers , how most get less than 30 hrs so no health benefits , I was done . I do remember that most of their products are cheap / inexpensive , and do recall funny memes when I had FB about their weird clientele nation wide . Walmart , hobby lobby and chick fillet will never see a penny of mine as long as I can help it / chose . And if u know anyone else that worth / needs to be in my list ( u know what I stand for ), pls inform me ! I am slow to catch on news . ?

Add Papa John's Pizza to your list...

@Lavergne thank u ma'am .

Jimmy John's is on my list as well. The CEO is a big game hunter and that is one "hobby" I will not support in any way, shape, or form. He posed for pictures with some of his kills. Imagine Chris Christie naked on a dead shark. Gross!! Home Depot hardware stores also are on my list, the CEO is a Drumpf supporter.

@HippieChick58 thank u ma'am . My list updated and I am greatful of u all . F these people . Thank u !!

This article is six months old. I'm guessing it would be fully operational at this point. Walmart sucks.

Anything to get an edge. So now when you (not me, I won't set a foot in the place) go there you can say all kinds of 'nice' things about Walmart. What are they going to do, throw out a customer?

2

I hope somebody is suing the assholes over that.

Do not be deceived. People inside Whalefart are watching every move very similar to ways that casinos use. They can both see you and hear you.

If this were true, teenagers wouldn't be getting away with millions of dollars in shoplifted items a day at Walmarts... and they are. I used to work in Loss Prevention at two different Walmarts and I've seen the numbers.

@Kafir It's a bit different in Sulivan, Mo. They chase kids and others out the door and catch them, find those who went into a rest room to secretly steal the product, then have them arrested and hit with phoney lawyers wanting a money payback at the same time. These cases do go to court and people around here do pay.

@DenoPenno We did the same thing, but only about 3% ever got caught, and not for lack of trying.

I don't give walfart any of my money.....we have the big super center in my small city, but I won't go there.

I have a super center that is about a mile away. It is open 24/7. I used to work 12 hour night shifts. There are some weird folks in there at night, and it isn't always customers. I stopped using WM maybe 4 or 5 years ago when their lousy practices started coming to light.

@HippieChick58 Their practises are why I refuse to shop there.....their crap merchandise is another.

@Lilac-Jade The ultimate irony, my adult kids also do not use Walmart. Two of them worked for Hayneedle Shops, an internet retailer similar to WayFair. WM bought out Hayneedle 😟 I'm looking for a job and one of the girls is sure her recommendation will get me hired. Nope. Not going to go there unless and until it is the last job open in the city.

@HippieChick58 I recognize that name but didn't know it had been bought out.

I live in small city in Canada, & walfart has nearly destroyed our small businesses here, but I still won't shop there. I shop online for everything now except groceries.

@Lilac-Jade , WM has destroyed ours. There's one little independent grocery still hanging on. Five others folded. Plus tire stores and hardware stores. Short of driving 60 miles round trip we're fucked.

@freeofgod I'm rather sick of what they're doing, & the size of my town can't handle it.

Even if they don't use it...
