LINK Evangelical Christians Face a Deepening Crisis - The Atlantic

Last week, Ralph Reed, the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s founder and chairman, told the group, “There has never been anyone who has defended us and who has fought for us, who we have loved more than Donald J. Trump. No one!”

Reed is partially right; for many evangelical Christians, there is no political figure whom they have loved more than Donald Trump.

I recently exchanged emails with a pro-Trump figure who attended the president’s reelection rally in Orlando, Florida, on June 18. (He spoke to me on the condition of anonymity, so as to avoid personal or professional repercussions.) He had interviewed scores of people, many of them evangelical Christians. “I have never witnessed the kind of excitement and enthusiasm for a political figure in my life,” he told me. “I honestly couldn’t believe the unwavering support they have. And to a person, it was all about ‘the fight.’ There is a very strong sense (I believe justified, you disagree) that he has been wronged. Wronged by Mueller, wronged by the media, wronged by the anti-Trump forces. A passionate belief that he never gets credit for anything.”

Too many evangelical leaders have such a lust for political power (so that they can cram their religious beliefs down others' throats in the form of law) that they are betraying the basic beliefs of their faith. That have become the ultimate demagogic hypocrites

Actually, studies show that biggest single reason people voted for Trump is because he used racism, fear of people of color and the LGBTQ community, women, education, etc to attract uneducated people who want to keep their "white privilege." Other studies correlated Trump support with men who routinely bought viagra and other male enhancers, so speculated that men who support Trump doubt their manhood
.

So why do women vote for Trump?

@HippieChick58 Weirdly, studies show that religious women are the main promoters of the Patriarchy. They also used to be major slave owners; i.e. George Washington married Martha because she was extremely wealthy and brought 100 personal slaves with her, with which George Washington "bred" his stable of slaves. Whenever I reported sexual assault as a child, it was religious women who insulted me and didn't believe me..

This kind of loving, endless worship of a leader is best defined as being cultish. It is the unquestioning adoration of people who will never look behind the green curtain. This behavior is the result of their having rejected information outside their personal experience

These are the people of their local churches, of charismatic televangelists, and Limbaugh and Hannity, of The Fox News cable channel. They have been brainwashed.

While I would not expect it to happen,I would not be surprised if they committed suicide if commanded by the right person using the right keywords.

Trump’s diehard supporters are nothing more than a massive, virulent cult.
