At the moment, Charlie Stoss' "Laundry" series (H. P. Lovecraft meets I.T.). As far as movies go, "The Fifth Element" - Space Opera at it's cinematic best.
My over-riding choice is any sci-fi genre that has an excellent plot, good acting, good eye candy, good directing, editing, etc. A good movie is something that takes me on a trip and makes me forget to look at the clock.
"Interstellar" was great in that it included space and time travel in one movie. One that bombed for me was Aliens and Cowboys. The two genres had no business being in one movie!
We live in a singular spiral galaxy. Shove any delusion of other galaxies let alone the word 'Universe' I can fathom the lack of delusions so far. Define even a single Universe, with billions of what we have pigeon holed as a Galaxy. Get a grip!!!!
What does this have to do with anything? Is that a quote or are you trying to be insulting?
