Sadly I think most of the hypocritical evangelicals are still with him. A few with some decency have called him out, but most see him as pursuing their right wing moralistic agenda. They're reactionaries wearing religious masks.

I don't know that this rises to the label of "civil war" but it does expose some fault lines and I think they are a little bit more important than the irrelevance and lack of influence that "principled conservatism" was consigned to by the one-two punch of the Tea Party and Trumpism.

On the other hand ... it's only a LITTLE bit more in my judgment. I truly hope I'm wrong about that, though.
