Temporary non-believers

I read of many faithful American Christian men sexual harassing females. When they did so, had they lost or forgotten their religion?

Christian men sexually harassing females is in direct alignment with Christianity.
They're just doing what Christians have been doing for thousands of years.

No, they simply are a$$holes.

No. They cn find many biblical scriptures to justigy their behavior and for the most part they don't see what they do as wrong, as they are men and should (in their view) be entitled

For those who do see what they do as wrong, then the easy out of confession to wash away their (actions) sins, makes it easier for them to do wrong. They can maintain an image of themselves as a good person as long as they confess... over and over again.

Atheists don't have so easy. To maintain an image of themselves as a "good person" they have to not do things that are wrong, because there is no easy out of confession to make them feel it was alright for them to do wrong.

No. They were already assholes despite their religious leanings. Religion gives them permission to be assholes.

Particularly evangelical Christianity is obsessed with sex and has a love, hate relationship with it. They see sex as original sin and are preoccupied with adultery, homosexuality, pre-marital sex, masturbation, abortion -- anything that has to do with sex. On the other hand, evangelical churches have a long history of ministers using their status and charisma to prey on girls and women, philandering, using prostitutes. The overall effect is to keep sex on the mind and tempts them to want to sample the forbidden fruit. In other words, there is a lot of religious and moral hypocrisy in the evangelical churches.

Religion is full of objectifying women. There is no "do not rape" commandment. So, strictly going by literal biblical logic, if a woman is raped, so long as the proper amends are made, namely marrying the victim or paying her father for her loss of virginity (if she was a virgin), then all is good.

So all in all, the bible doesn't really care if women are harassed.... so long as they don't "belong" to another man

[via.library.depaul.edu] This might explain things somewhat .

I could see it several ways: 1: they really DON'T believe, but use believer status for their own nefarious purposes, OR, 2: they believe too well and either A: expect to be forgiven anyway or B: do not consider such atrocities as sins because their bible shows many examples of similar behavior, without calling it out as "bad".

maybe they think they get a free pass because Christ died for their sins
