This is boring shit about cars. I have a Honda and Miata. Both had check engine lights on and mechanic tells me need new Catalytic converters. I research online and find a forum about mostly Miata CATs.

They suggest buying Berrymans B12. So I ordered 2 was only $3ea but took weeks to get here. Immediately Honda check engine light is off. That's good, but Miata has issue starting so I can be 100 mi. from home when it pulls this crap on me.

The first can didn't do much but turn out the check engine light so I bought Berryman's 60 for high maintenance cars that never had a cleaning. Well get on highway car will only get up to 40mph. I pull off highway at scenic thingy and put it in neutral revving the engine, get back on highway flies like race car. They say it needs to be driven 150 miles to get thru the Berryman's so I took it out today and started with hesitation but started, drove to shopping, started right up, stopped to save a deer on highway ramp and started again. NO more problems with either. Miata has $700 converter. Do not need. So if you ever are told about needing new CAT just use the Berryman's. You are very welcome!

Well, this is useful knowledge. Thank you for telling us about it. I haven't had to change the catalytic converters yet. I used to go to the dealer to get my car fixed. He wasn't particularly polite to me. Also, he never described the cause of the breakdown in great detail. I was used to not knowing anything about my car. (I'm very far from tech, you know). But as of late, I've come to a mechanic center where they tell me every detail. First, the specialists diagnose the problem. After that, they described to me all future actions with the car, so I knew everything would be fine. This is the first time I've encountered something like this. And you know, I think you just had bad luck with the mechanic. I'm glad you didn't listen to him. I hope you find a good mechanic center in the future.

I have always used Berryman's. The mechanic was just wrong, but decided to pretend he was right

Thanks for that info. I’m saving your post

I’ve got a Miata—love it.

@K9Kohle789 They are absolutely fun to drive. Mine’s an ‘06 standard, 90,000 miles. That baby will flat run, let me tell you. After getting a couple of speeding tickets I’ve slowed down though. The highest speed I’ve had it on is 110, and she seemed to be begging me to let her go faster.

Nowadays I drive reasonably.
