Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.It is the anniversary of the second Russian Revolution of 1917. The first occurred in February (March NS) and led to the overthrow of the Tsar and the Imperial government.
I recommend reading W. Bruce Lincoln's trilogy, Sheila Fitzpatrick's The Russian Revolution, Peter Holquist's study of continuity, among many others.

That whole time was a mass of rebellion, much of which now gets lumped with the Red revolution.
