LINK Arizona Republicans File Bill to Punish Abortion Doctors with the Death Penalty | Hemant Mehta | Friendly Atheist | Patheos

Conservatives in Arizona are so “pro-life,” they want abortion doctors to face the death penalty.

At least, that’s the logical consequence of House Bill 2650, proposed by Republican State Rep. Walter Blackman and co-sponsored by nine of his GOP colleagues. If the bill passes, doctors who perform abortions at any stage of pregnancy could be charged with homicide, a crime which is punishable by death. It would also prohibit public insurance providers in the state from covering abortion even in cases of rape or incest, and even if the mother’s life is in danger.

Seems that politicians that evoke seditious and abuse towards women and children should face public execution by drawing and quartering!!!

That is quite barbaric...it sometimes seems that America is going backwards in its regard for humanity, by prioritising the life of the unborn over that of fully sentient adult women who should have the right to decide what to do with their own bodies. This continual push back against hard fought reproductive rights gained over decades needs to be resisted and lobbied against. These religious dinosaurs got bolder under Trump, and if not halted now will stop at nothing until they have a complete ban on abortion and it will take a very brave doctor who would take the risk of performing this procedure knowing they could end up on death row.

I can't count the number of times I've privately warned non-Christian Republican women that this sort of thing was coming, no point warning Christian Republican women, they're all for it.
The non-Christian Republican women pretty much universally think it's just bait to keep the base and that it'll never happen. I suppose being a non-Christian Republican woman is a bit like being a bare back porn star at the height of the aids epidemic.

Is it hypocritical to want to punish doctors and not the pregnant women ?
