Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.For research-inclined folk, the early volumes of Asher Hinds’ Precedents of the House of Representatives tell how the House disciplined or expelled members before 1907.
The main public libraries of large cities ( i.e., SF & Oakland ) as well as the libraries of state universities ( i.e., UC Berkeley ) are Federal Depository Libraries and have these volumes in print or on line. I’ve found the on line volumes hard to read; others may know how to search them better than I.
