WHAT CAUSED THE ELECTRICAL AND WATER SUPPLY BREAKDOWN IN TEXAS?

From some that I know, I think this is what happened during the winter blast from the Polar Vortex last week

  1. Electrical Supply
Texas has its own electrical grid (because Texas did not want to depend on the federal, the other two (East and West) grids). It has tremendous pressure with the super increased demand
  2. Water Supply
The water pipes in people's homes and businesses broke. That supply can be cut off by the utility companies to stop it immediately. Some water mains underground (city's infrastructure) broke also. Usually those have been and will be be repaired within 24 hours

Some people (like I) have not faced electrical shutdown issues because I am in the section where hospitals, fire stations and other emergency services are located.

I am hearing from both sides that Texas is to blame while the defenders say Texas did everything right and this Polar Vortex is possible once in 50 years and is manageable with improvements.

Any Texas members here want to correct/ comment?

If you're trying to avoid regulation and let individual companies profit more by not doing preventative measures....this is what happens.
