"cleanliness is next to godliness"

very peculiar phrase isnt it?

is this shit in the book?

i can't begin to understand what it could ever even mean

is it referring to the fact that jesus was circumsized and thus his peter is cleaner?

or perhaps its quite simple and the fact that Mary still has her hymen intact enabled for a clean delivery

or maybe because the mangers and stables were well kept in those olden days?

im always genuine yall and id love to see some intelligent theories

There are a lot of "proverbs" that many assume are found in the Bible, but came much later.

I believe back when this proverb was written, they didn't bathe much. I think it's referring to moral purity. They didn't follow that too much either.
