He cast our Founding Fathers as black in Hamilton, which isn't accurate, yet has never apologized for the shading of it's characters.
But now, the shading of the actors hired to "live" in The Heights isn't accurate and that requires an apology?
Way to give white nationalists more ammunition by showcasing that re-writing white history for art is ok but re-writing non-white history for art is not.
Did you pause your account on IDW?
@TheMiddleWay If you sent a message and deleted your account, the message would have disappeared anyways, so all good.
I know who the unreasonable ones on IDW are, and I've learned to just avoid them after awhile. Not worth the time arguing with such folks. I understand, and at times I've wondered myself just how wonderful social media really is? The uptick in cases of clinical depression may very well be linked to excessive social media usage, but that's another story...
As for community, neither site reminds me of a strong community, just echo chambers for your preferred side, and I've encountered revolting individuals on both sites.
All good on the note part, both sites have frequent glitches, so that's understandable.
As for Admin posting an update on IDW and not here, given in the past on this site how some jumped to conclusions and even threatened to doxx Admin over some of his political views, can't say I blame him for skipping over this site. How are such actions representative of a community? Keep in mind though the membership numbers on both sites are somewhat low in comparison to other major social media platforms, which is why it may appear that way to you. With that said, I'm not disagreeing with the last sentence in your reply above.
One last thought regarding the battle of the political sides, in particular the vaccination debate. As of May of this year I became fully vaccinated against Covid, and for the most part I think I made the best decision for myself and those around me (you know, the libertarian or voluntary thing to do). I can sympathize with both sides in that debate. Some people are not so anti-vaxx as they are suspicious and critical of others, they have become distrustful of fellow human beings based on how they were treated in the past. That suspicion/fear works both ways, as I've sat back and observed some of the terrible things pro-vaxxers have said about those who hold differing views on the matter. How is debasing such people and wishing them dead any more humanist in nature than those who are suspicious of vaccines? Both extremes are driven by irrational fears. Take my own mother for example... some months back before I finally convinced her to get vaccinated against Covid, there would have been pro-vaxxers out there who would have been quick to say terrible things about my mother for not getting vaccinated and accuse her of spreading the virus, regardless of the fact that she has largely been confined to her home for the past few years now and that I help her with chores that she needs to do. Both sides make crude assumptions, and when people let themselves become driven by fears and emotions there's no reasoning with such people. Also wanted to mention that after the second dose I became sick for close to five days, and being diabetic such a scenario could quickly have become serious and warrant a hospital visit. Yet, when I did a post on this site sharing that story, aside from a handful of people hardly anyone else gave a damn, and I suppose they got what they wanted (another vaccinated citizen) so they could have cared less about what happened afterwards. That doesn't exactly remind me of a community.
As for social media, not sure what to tell you there, personally I've never cared for social media much, too much needless drama and bragging and not much of a sense of community, at least from what I've witnessed anyway. I'll still be on here for awhile, until maybe it reaches the point of being futile in doing so, guess time will tell for sure. Whatever you may choose in the end, do take care.
@TheMiddleWay Dang man, thirty years dealing with social media? I'm barely five years, and have grown somewhat disillusioned with social media, lol.
I certainly agree on the second part there. Only talking about this site for the moment, I've actually gotten along better with some left-leaning individuals than right ones. Being I tend to support issues like gay rights/separation of church and state/decriminalizing recreational drugs/basic LE reform/and abortion rights for women, that tends to draw the ire of radical rightwingers.
JacksonNought and Garsco wish you well by the way.
