Greetings from the 2021 Great Allentown Fair. Was a good day (Thursday), back in familiar territory (the hospital in the background of the Ferris Wheel photo was the hospital that welcomed me into the world in the summer of 1984), after last year's Fair was cancelled due to pandemic. Hope to get some more photos of the Fair animals when I go back on Sunday. Every year that I've gone to the Fair the Uncle Nick's Candy Wheel game stand was there, and every year I've won at least once. Put a quarter down on the number of your choice, and hope the wheel lands on your number. Won five times on $3.50, not too shabby. That tall ride... that's the featured thrill ride this year, the Air Raid. Haven't cared much for the rides now in years, but a friend dared me to go on it and if I do the pizza will be on him, so on Sunday I'm going to take him up on his bet. Air Raid is 100ft tall, had to stand far back to get the whole ride in the picture.
And on the Fairgrounds is The Main Gate a place I frequented almost 20 years ago.
Time flies
I recall you mentioning that when I did a post on here during the 2018 Fair. Main Gate is still a popular and thriving destination in Allentown.
@SpikeTalon I don't really hang out anymore.
I was a lot younger when I lived there. Lol
The Bar With No Name was another place I frequented.
@Unity Can't say I hang out that much anymore myself. Like you, I'm more on the introvert side.
I can’t ride these things anymore to save my life !
This is great spike , glad u had fun .
The pictures reminded me faces and music and friendships of childhood ♥️
Definitely, over the years many good memories there. Only part of the Fair that I don't care for much anymore is the rides. I'll make an exception for the Air Raid though, not every year the Fair has a feature ride attraction, and besides one of my friends made a bet I can't pass up.
@azzow2 Being I know how much you too liked the Fair back in the day, tagged you in this post.
