I think he's constantly on the lookout for PR hooks that will keep his base in a frenzy, and I think he was involved in the Rittenhouse messaging from the very beginning.
Rittenhouse doesn't seem to understand that his power as a media darling will be whipped away as soon as he gets more media attention than trump, and then he'll be squashed like the slimy bug he is (and be left paying his own legal fees).
