LINK Oklahoma Republican introduces bill to limit how slavery is taught in schools

A new bill proposed in the Oklahoma state Legislature would limit how slavery is taught in schools and ban teaching that "one race is the unique oppressor" or "victim" in slavery's history.

Republican state Rep. Jim Olsen filed House Bill 2988 this month, and it has already caused a backlash from lawmakers and teachers.

The bill prohibits state agencies and public school districts from placing culpability on one race and teaching "that one race is the unique oppressor" or "another race is the unique victim in the institution of slavery.”

"Okay, children. Today I'm going to tell you about how millions of black folks sailed to America and begged the white folks to make them work for no compensation. They were really friendly, and seemed earnest, so we white folks set them loose in our fields, homes, and wherever they wanted to go work for us. White people felt badly for their generous work so gave them all a home and lavish food displays. After a while we asked them to leave The South so that we could go find them and hang them from trees. Good times, children. Any questions? Oops, time's up."
