LINK OK Bill Would Pay Parents $10K Each Day Their Nominated Banned Books Remain in Libraries
(When it comes to education, several republican states seem to be in a race to the bottom)
A proposed Oklahoma state law would allow parents to seek up to $10,000 for each day a book is kept in their child's school library after it was nominated for removal.
The proposed law, Senate Bill [SB] 1142, was introduced to the state legislature on December 16 and would go into effect during the 2022-2023 academic year if passed. It would affect both public school districts and public charter schools throughout the state.

Don’t let headlines about PROPOSED bills jerk you around.
Legislators promise crazed constituents to introduce such bills. All bills are sent to committees of specialists and they reject such bills.

That is definitely true but unfortunately here in Oklahoma many of them make it to the floor and many of them pass in the Republican control legislature. We lost the senate in 2012 and ever since then the crazies have gotten crazier.
I realized it was only just proposed, but even if it doesn't pass, I thought it was important to point out just how far republicans are willing to take things.
