Would it be fair or reasonable to say that Fascism is similar to Communism with the difference that it allows religion?

Fascism is when Big Business runs government.
Socialism is when government runs Big Business.
Communism is a futuristic society , that is classless ( no rich or poor), where everyone's needs are met .
There are no communist countries. Nor have there ever been any.

@Retiredsteve None of those have followed Marx's ideal of communism, though. All have a privileged elite, not unlike capitalism. It's not what you do, frequently, but who you know- again, not unlike capitalism. At best these nations would be centralized socialist dictatorships, not communist.

Both have similarities & differences.
Both are intrusive & oppressive.
Different methods by which to totally contro people.

Very good thanks. No mention of culture / religion however. (Perhaps one must read between the lines).

But otherwise excellent

Both are authoritarian in practice and both are inclined to suppress religion. Historically, a cult of personality has been promoted to displace religion (Stalin, Mao, Hitler). Fascism may allow capitalism, but private property may be seized if those in power choose to take it over.

@twill Republicans never seem to get that by promoting crooks, those crooked leaders proceed to screw the taxpayers. Less often, it also happens with democrats. The lure of greed is often too much for those in power.
