I respectfully disagree with the studio audience. I think this behaviour is actually pretty common. It’s called bias confirmation: the natural tendency to favour evidence that supports pre-existing beliefs over that which does not. So it’s not so much about altering as it is favouring…
In my humble opinion.

Well stated. They fabricate alternative facts and claim the mainstream news is not factual (i.e. fake). In a world where basic facts cannot be agreed upon it becomes impossible to reason objectively.
