The supposed writings of the disciples (the actually words are "according to" ) weren't actually written down until 8- to 120 years after his death. At that time most were illiterate. There were no schools and writing material was rare. Even emperors had scribes. Everything was oral history and repeated and translated many times. This bit of obfuscation is just that, something that throws people off the track of fact. Also, people were crucified for a reason and almost never taken down. Even if they were crypts were very scarce and only the wealthy had them and no one would give up something like this for a common criminal. BS on top of more BS.
