One time when I was growing up miles SW of there in Page. A man was sleeping on his boat in a cove near 'Lone Rock' in Wahweap Bay when a big chunk of the rock fell off. He wasn't as lucky -- the wave rolled his boat over and killed him.
Not to say rock falls are common -- those rocks are BIG and they don't move often. But sandstone isn't very stable.
