OVERLAND PARK, Kansas — Kansas voters rejected a proposed state constitutional amendment Tuesday that would have stripped the right to an abortion — marking a stand for abortion rights in a heavily Republican state in the first vote since the fall of Roe v. Wade.

The vote, for now, preserves abortion access in Kansas and bucks a regional trend toward bans possible after the federal right was overturned — and that has made Kansas an abortion destination.

Well, nice to see good news for a change.

Need to enjoy it when we can, since it happens so seldom, at least for us socialists and progressives, with this country. Not surprising that about the only wins our side gets are on culture war issues or identity politics. I can't remember the last time we actually got a win on anything the ruling class or corporations actually cared about...

@Druvius I know I'm not wrong. Both major parties are against us and instead on the side of the rich and corporations, so anyone with a brain can see that disagreements between those parties on issues the rich, ruling class and corporations really care about is all Kabuki theater, same as watching pro wrestling, but then again, a lot of Americans actually believe pro wrestling isn't just fake entertainment, and yet, they are still allowed to vote. It explains a lot of why things are as they are... If only those with triple digit IQs could vote....
