Today, I got cornered by an old woman in a thrift store who admired the vintage bean pot I was buying. She did not advocate Xtianity (I am sure she assumed I was Xtian), but was telling me about losing weight and eating a healthy diet. She said that she DOES not eat oatmeal that is steel cut, but other oatmeal is ok. She does not eat certain fruits because they have too much sugar, but other fruit is fine. She eats turkey bacon even though I pointed out that it is highly processed and not healthy.

However, when she said she was NOT vaccinated, I started backing off, but the kicker was yet to come. She said that her chiropractor was vaccinated and she read that vaccinated people "shed" the Covid virus onto other people. She hoped that she would not catch Covid from him.

I told her that was not factual and she would not catch Covid from a vaccinated person, but she said she had READ AN ARTICLE written by a HIGH MEDICAL OFFICIAL in England who said it was factual. I repeated it was not factual and pointed out that vaccines are not made with live viruses.

If she gets Covid, she's going to blame her chiropractor!

I gotta stop allowing people to talk to me.

Technically, there are a few vaccines that will shed. Loads of doctors will tell new parents to keep their freshly vaxced babies away from elderly folks, especially ones with compromised immune systems...but the COVID vac isn't one of them, and , at least the J&J version is very easily tolerated . First vax in decades that didn't send me to the hospital. Yes, I'm one of those people the docs generally refuse to give vaccines to anymore due to all the extreme reactions / hospitalizations from them. Aparantly on the COVID one, they didn't care 😄 my son's weren't t so lucky. With the mRNA shots

@Gwendolyn2018 we got tons of the same kind of people around here. Even after , at the very beginning of the bug , it spread like wildfire through a town of about 350 , after a preacher went to Mardi Gras to " evangelize the crowd" ( we know he was there getting an eye ful 😄 . The moron brought the bug back, and even after cdc warnings , he and his wife went out and spread it all over town. The funerals were endless. Yet with all that, those people refuse to take any precautions ... And people are still getting sick and dying. This is in the middle of nowhere. I can't imagine how truly bad it still is in cities.
Anyone taking precautions will get ridiculed in an area like this, but they leave me alone wearing a mask . I must look old and cranky enough to fend it off 😄

See? Until that one moment you thought that woman was "normal" HAHAHAHA!
I thought that about my neighbor when I moved into this apartment 4 years ago. We'd been chatting for a good 30 minutes, things like eating healthy, her cat, etc. At one point she invited me in to her apartment to show me her paintings, I had said I would not mind seeing her art work. Her little kitty went and hid, she showed me several of her paintings - she does nice stuff - and her TV was on. I don't know what she was watching but there were some images/commentary around Black neighborhoods and schools, she then says in all seriousness, "You know they are not as smart as us.", us being white people.
I stood there with my mouth open for a long pregnant pause just looking at her and told her that is simply not true. YIKES!

I remember looking for a room in Louisville and went in one place and there was a very large confederate battle flag on the wall.

@Theresa_N A guy I worked with back in 1993 was sent by the company to get some training on new computers we were getting. the training was somewhere in the south. When he came back he told me how appalled he was by the blatant racism he encountered. He even saw a sign on the side of the road that said in bold type caps N . . . WATCH YOUR BACK.

Didn't you're mom ever tell you not to talk to strangers?

@Gwendolyn2018 I just make myself seem unapproachable, I don't make eye contact and if someone actually does try to chit chat, I'm very quick with them, "uh huh" "hmm" or "yeah" followed by a quick chortle. I never kick anyone in the shin tho. That would be rude.

You do seem to attract the best people! 😂 You must send out an unconscious approchable vibe! 😁

She is confused. One can catch Covid from someone with Covid, and, yes, some vaxxed people get Covid. I had a mild case a month ago. No one catches it from a vaxxed person who doesn't have the disease.

This is a subtle issue the wingnuts have seized on as a talking point to bash the non-MAGA. I am certain that any trained specialist at the CDC would explain the issue as you did. However, that message may have gotten mangled by a poorly informed politician, but I haven't seen any actual quotations. Thus, I'm betting the wingnut claim was fabricated from the start and endlessly repeated on Fox.

@racocn8 HAHA! I had the same thought - it's a talking point that sounds exactly like the fox brand of bullshit/ crazy talk.
