Stolen catalytic converters

You might be thinking hey that's awesome that they caught one of these bastards that are paying criminals for stealing catalytic converters but you'd be wrong. Here are the facts. His business was caught with approximately 300 converters illegally obtained. $3,000 on average to replace a converter. That comes to $900,000. Sure he's not making that profit but I can assure you a lot more than 300 converters went through his business. That's just what he got caught with. Great job by law enforcement to catch him. I don't know about other states but in IL a person gets busted for fraud as it pertains to used/junk car parts the first offense is a misdemeanor. So this guy makes millions on stolen catalytic coverters and maybe gets his wrist slapped? Crime doesn't pay? It's paying this guy quite well. Overall that's why people are getting converters cut off their cars. There's not only money in it but the penalty for buying and selling them is non existent.
