LINK Trump legal team exposes how weak Trump's document case really is

By Grace Maria | Oct 22, 2022

Team Trump has had a bad few months. Beginning with the Mar-A-Lago raid in August, then continuing with courts deciding against Trump’s document case, as well as others. Then he got a subpoena from the January 6th committee. Pat Cipollone, a White House lawyer who brought valuable evidence to the January 6th committee, has testified in front of a grand jury in the Georgia case against Trump where he and others allegedly pressured the state to change the results of the 2020 election to help Trump. His ally Lyndsay Graham has now exhausted his appeals, sans one last ditch effort with the Supreme Court, who have rejected similar appeals recently. He will most likely have to testify in front of that same grand jury as Cipillone did.

Things couldn’t get any worse, right?

Well, maybe they can.

Trump’s document case is going from bad to worse. His handpicked Florida judge has been pretty much rendered moot and irrelevant by the appeals court. The SCOTUS has also made life worse for him by refusing to even hear his cases, leaving the appeals court decisions in place. And there is nothing the ex-President can do about it.

It couldn’t get any worse, right?

Well, now his legal team is now essentially admitting that they don’t even know why a special master was needed in Trump’s document case. As Lawrence O’Donnell shows (video below) the court and Department of Justice are now showing how nonsensical the “special master” request was.

It has gotten to the point where the DOJ is openly saying in their filings that even the “personal documents” that Trump has complained about are valuable evidence. They help demonstrate how reckless the former President who was impeached twice was with documents that weren’t his property under any interpretation of the law.

Couldn’t get worse, right?

Well, now it has become known that Kash Patel has now testified to a grand jury about those documents. Patel was the official intermediary between Trump and the National Archives. Patel could have taken the 5th, or he could have seen the light and told the truth. Trump has no idea.

According to O’Donnell, Trump is a pathological liar. Not only that, but he has attracted other pathological liars into his orbit. So, even if Patel tells him that he “gave them nothing” like a good mob underling, Trump has no idea if that is true.

Check out Lawrence O’Donnell’s full report below. One that might have the former POTUS shaking in his boots as Trump’s document case and other cases move forward.
