I fail to understand why anybody would vote for any party that consistently widens the wealth gap, widens the health gap, suppresses voter rights, is riven with xenophobia, is against a woman's right to choose, rails against democracy, promotes bigotry and homophobia, and fails to deliver on its election promises.

You are not alone. There will be a lot of unhappy people should this trend continue. America will no longer be the land of the free.

Betty Level 8 Nov 9, 2022

Has it ever been. The delusion started when the FNP travelled there millenia ago.

My take on all this as an American is that voters think their rights and happiness are sort of like their evangelical religion. God saves you when you are the most terrible sinner and deserve to die. Politicians teach you that you deserve nothing and it should be given to the top 1 percent. After all, American was founded as a Republic.

I don't recall anyone ever telling me or even inferring that only the top 1% are deserving.

1

Better put, you fail (miserably) to understand anything about American politics. Your comments prove you have a surface knowledge (at best) of the subject.

2

Cuz yo a Aussie. Wee yanks unnerstand.

Because many conservatives/Republicans are driven by fear, hatred, and an almost gleeful eagerness to oppress, harm, or marginalize those they don't like. And some are just ignorant. Most of them seem to revere Trump despite him being an overall terrible person who embodies most of the very worst traits in a human being.

6

Ah well, rednecks will be rednecks.

They say that if someone is determined to commit suicide, they'll find a way to do it eventually. I think it's the same with countries, actually.

4

Because they only hear the brainwashing version of the truth

Selective hearing.

@Betty Yeah, that too. Willful ignorance.

At the very least, the races should not be as close as they are. Who takes Herschel Walker for a serious candidate? How about a state being led by known public liar Sarah Huckabee Sanders? This is one seriously messed up country.

[en.m.wikipedia.org]

At the moment it looks like Walker might actually win. He is a violent, lying buffoon with zero relevant experience and very serious mental health issues.

@Charles1971 Pretty sure this one is headed for a recount, which could still go either way. Warnock is a strong, worthy, credible candidate. But if Walker takes it, I predict right now that he will seriously harm if not kill someone while in office. The writing is on the wall. Too bad more Republicans can't read.

Likely headed to runoff for the GA senate seat. That it is THIS close, despite what we know is disgusting, but hey… same buffoons re-elected Kemp, so what can I expect?

The wealth gap is based on capability and desire to accomplish things for themselves. I’m amazing that anyone would vote for handouts to lazy people.

The health gap comes from welfare bums sitting on their couch drinking and destroying their body wanting free healthcare.

Can you tell us who had had their vote suppressed???

A woman’s right to choose stars when she decides to take her pants off.

How is personal freedoms left to the states and local communities against democracy??? Federal force from the democrats is actually 100% opposite of democracy.

How is anyone promoting bigotry and homophobia???

I unblocked this loser temporarily because I knew he would not have anything of value to add to the conversation. This wannabe pretends he is a doctor and thinks we can't tell that he isn't. This is the type of moron that keeps Republicans in office. Nothing of value to add to the conversation, nothing of value to add to the community in general. Reblocking.

Good luck getting an answer. @anglophone knows how to post, but does not know how to research.

@Alienbeing lol, sounds like you & he came from the same testicles.

@FrayedBear You are exactly the same as @anglophone. Both ignorant Aussie's who don't realize they don't know a think about the subject on which they post.

So you would rather billionaires & large corporations not contributing to country tax coffers along with fascist Ukrainians be given largesse from the country's coffers but victims of Katrina & like disasters be given nothing.
And what about the genetically defective caused by indiscriminate chemical poisoning? Should they receive no assistance?
Finally who is responsible for creating meaningful safe employment?

@Alienbeing yet again you identify your inability. If we don't think how can we comment?
What a moron.

@FrayedBear Your feeble & stupid remark regarding what you allege I would "rather" shows the limited manner in which your mind works. You just proved AGAIN, that you have no clue.

As respects your "what about" and who is responsible question, there is no "what about" and no one person or entity is responsible for creating employment. I'm not surprised that you didn't know that.

@FrayedBear Your second 9/22 post refers to what? It almost does not matter because you have proven you don't think.

@Alienbeing if a national or local government fails to strive to create the following for its citizens it is in my opinion fraudulent & unlawful: citizens require at a minimum
•security\ protection from physical assault by predators human or animal
•freedom as opposed to slavery, be it physical, mental or economic slavery
•food & water
•shelter
•health
•employment
•education
•means of communicating their thoughts to contribute & participate in society's wellbeing growth & change for advancement

What should governments be doing according to your beliefs?

@Alienbeing And how are American governments serving its citizens by giving monies collected from those citizens to create the further destruction of the lives of its own citizens affected by natural disaster, unemployment, ill health, illiteracy, criminality whether by rogue citizens or CIA, FBI or local police, robber baron billionaires & corporations, and create aggression against other country's citizens?

@FrayedBear As you correctly put it "it is in my opinion". While the only opinion you are entitled to is your own, that does not mean the opinion is correct.

I don't agree that it is Governemnt's duty to provide:
food & water
shelter
employment

Government should provide:
Security
infrastructure

That's about it.

@FrayedBear Answering your last 11/9 post:

Your question is so garbled that it is unintelligible. For example:

  1. what further destruction are you referring to?
  2. what contributions promote unemployment, illiteracy, ill health, etc are you referring to?

Basically what was running through your little mind when you belched out the question?

@Alienbeing sadly you are too obtuse to understand.

How can you have security if you do not have employment paying a fair living wage?
How have you got security when the stupidity of your government cannot prevent inflation?
How have you got security when government allows millions to not obtain universal healthcare, housing & education?
How have you got security when you have the highest rate of prison incarcerations, judicial murders, covid19, road and drug deaths in the world?

You live in extreme insecurity as evidenced by the paranoia rife in your "cuntry".
And as for infrastructure I have read that your roads are generally in a state of disrepair, 10's of thousands of bridges require major maintenance, city water supplies poison the citizens, New York & the eastern states have a rat plague, Washington a human one . . .

@FrayedBear Your first question is silly, and it shows that it is YOU that fails to understand. Employment is necessary for economic security unless one is born wealthy. However individual employment is an individual responsibility, not a government issue, which was the topic.

Do you hear me supporting the U.S. current government? NO you don't, however inflation comes and goes, so I am not too worried about that.

We DO NOT WANT universal healthcare. That is our decision and as with all our decision your approval is not required or solicited.

The remainder of your post can be answered on one sentence. Here it is: You are not a citizen and your approval is not needed or solicited.

@Alienbeing "We DO NOT WANT universal healthcare. That is our decision" has referendum been held of the citizens of USA proving your proclamation? No I didn't think so.

LoL where do I use the term "individual employment"? I didn't.

As I told the Australian Federal Parliament some years back " only a fool discards something before understanding its value".
IMO your "your approval is not needed or solicited" not only identifies your closed minded ignorance but also your failure to understand that you can only have me give approval if I agree that yours is the appropriate intelligent action or decision. As @BDair has just stated - "For claiming to be a site for skeptics, this place seems to be largely populated by people with a complete lack of objectivity. A preponderance of Critical Thinking skills is not in evidence."

@FrayedBear universal health care is for the lazy. Why should I have to pay for someone else’s heart attack? Why should anyone else have to pay for my liver transplant if I choose to drink like a fish for years on end?

I find it interesting that citizens from countries with universal healthcare come to the US to get surgeries before they die. I’ve assisted with the surgeries of a handful of Canadians.

@CourtJester Why do you associate universal health care with the lazy? Have you considered that your American free enterprise is frequently just bullies & monopolists ripping off fellow humans or an insurer? I presume that you believe that you will pay for rectification of your heart attack through your insurance or your personal accumulated wealth? If through insurance what makes you think that your annual premium is the maximum that you can recover each year? The same as universal health the money is put into a pool & spent on those needing it. I had a friend who died at the age of 53. They claimed it to be a congenital heart defect. Neither he nor his parents knew that the family had this defect. How about you? Do you know of all the congenital defects passed down from your ancestors?
According to prognostication made when I was seven years of age I should have been dead 30+ years ago. Despite that I have never had private health insurance which has the sole purpose of making profits not ensuring that people have good health. Have you taken a hippocratic oath or a hypocrite's oath? Equally universal health services that do not offer the same quality of service as that obtained through private health funding are simply sabotaged, exploited, improperly funded or subjected to fraud.
When I first came to Australia their universal health service Medicare funded through an extra 1½% on the income tax rate exhibited the following dishonest practice - an hospital bed, its attendent nurses, cleaners, house doctors & caters were charged according to the category of payment responsibility - Medicare patients $90 per day, Road traffic insurance victims $100 per day, Workers compensation insurance $110 per day. That is a wonderful example of a tiered society that discriminates against given classes. Do you have a flat rate of income tax in America?

@CourtJester who pays for your treatment in America if you are left half dead on the side of the road by a hit & run motorist?

@FrayedBear if you have insurance, your insurance and you. If you don’t have insurance then you are treated and billed.

That fact that I see patients that reside in Canada and Europe on a rather constant bases says quite a bit about universal health care.

In the past month I saw one guy from Canada with kidney cancer and a woman from Europe with breast cancer because their appointments were two to four months out. Got them both into surgery the next week.

You can’t make someone with cancer wait for months. That’s a damn death sentence. Just hit them in the head with a brick and end their wait.

That’s capitalism too. People get paid for making shit happen and getting results. Both sides win.

@CourtJester So justifying your lack of professionalism, oath taken and other matters that I mention above?
Capitalism is not an excuse - it is a disease as practiced & taught by British & Americans.
. . Perhaps your advice of bricking in the head should be applied for the good of humanity to all those practitioners of capitalism.

@FrayedBear

No. We make more money than you’re doctors because our patients are more likely to live. The payout comes from results… and we do get results. Y’all don’t.

If your medical system was superior; your citizens wouldn’t come to the United States for adequate healthcare. And THAT is socialized medicine.

@FrayedBear

If your government officials really cared about you, they would reduce your taxes and let socialized medicine over there just cover the common cold stuff and just buy you a plane ticket to the US for the important procedures.

@CourtJester lol considering that the US has a tendency to steal the best from most other countries without paying for their education, that America has a population about ten times the size of Australia, that Australia does not have people dying from lack of medical care nor driven to bankruptcy because of medical expense I fail to see what you are bragging about.
Here in Australia we are "treated" to TV documentaries on how the American system fails 25% of its citizens.

@FrayedBear Keep your Universal Healthcare, we really are not interested.

@FrayedBear Capitalism is not a disease as you put it, but Socialism sure is nothing except a collection of emotional thoughts.

@Alienbeing

Nothing screams socialism nearly as loud as a good old fashioned food line.

@CourtJester food lines caused by governments not ensuring that minimum wages capable of sustaining life in the economy & society developed by your governments. I thought you guys abolished slavery a long time ago. Failure to prevent it is evidenced by food lines.

@FrayedBear
Minimum wages??? What kind of adult strives for a minimum wage???
If you make minimum wage; that is your choice. Minimum wage is meant for 17 year olds just entering the workforce. If you’re 40 years old and working 20 hours a week at McDonald’s, that because of laziness or poor life choices.

Are but a few of the myriad articles telling the truth of American life today.

Is your head so far up your indoctrinated deluded arse that you don't realise that about 40 million or 30% of the US work force is not paid sufficiently to feed themself & their families?

@FrayedBear

30% of Americans may not make enough to feed themselves. I’m okay with that. Life is about choices. If they make poor choices, they are rewarded with the results of those choices. It’s not my responsibility to ensure that they are rewarded for ignorance and laziness.

@CourtJester so you admit that is your responsibility to look after them if they were not endowed with the same quality of genes that you have that have resulted in you being able to take advantage of the encouragement that you received from your parents to maximise your potential through natural health, education & effort?

Have you watched the movie "55 Steps"?
[en.wikipedia.org]

@FrayedBear
Why should I pay for your poor life choices

@CourtJester now you prove just how incompetent & ill educated you are.

How did you select your parents & the genes that they have passed on from theirs & your ancestors?

If you wish to be a #stupid ignoramus kindly do it elsewhere. Are you fit to practice medicine? If licensed it says little for those who gave you the license & the hippocratic oath that you are supposed to comply with & uphold.

@FrayedBear
I’ve done no harm, except for your feelings.

@CourtJester your harm to myself is inconsequential to myself, to humanity & your ancestors it is obscene.

@FrayedBear
Explain the harm to my ancestors please.

@CourtJester you erroneously believe that they did not contribute to your being. Lol are you claiming that you are JC reborn & that your mother was a virgin? LMAO

@FrayedBear
Sure. It’s the holidays in 2022. I can be whoever I want to be.
