I wish they were still here, 1 of my favorite places to watch a movie when i eas a teenager!

We still have 2 drive in theaters close.
I'm not a kiss and tell kind of girl. Lol
When I was a kid our parents took us to the drive in to see the Boggie creek monster. That move scared the living hell out of us. Lol I can still get a little spooked and I live with a creek in my back yard. Lol

Couldn't watch the movie once the windows steamed up.

Sadly, no memories of amorous activities at the drive in, but I do have two that stand out.

First one was a summer ending triple feature of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and When Worlds Collide back in 7th grade. By the time When Worlds Collide began rolling, everybody else was asleep and I felt like I was discovering a little gem that all my friends were missing out on. When Worlds Collide still remains my all time favorite B film to this day.

Second one is from my junior year in college. Keystone Light had just been introduced on the market and they were running an introductory special of $1.00 per case. My friends and I decided that we were going to buy a bunch of Keystone Light, go the the drive in movies and get absolutely shit faced. Little did we realize that Keystone Light is yellow piss water. Not beer. We must have drank four cases of that crap between us and didn't even catch a buzz. All we did is piss twice an hour for the next 24 hours.

We used to sneak in through the trunk, with tonz-o-booze. To this day I don't remember actually "watching" a movie. We were mostly out drinking, having fun, and for my part, making friends with a Saint Bernard who was the only guy who would listen to me.

O man, were those fun times, I never had to open my trunk, no back seat. We had lawn chairs to sit on! lol

I've been to drive-ins before in the past, just never snuck in though. I love Saturdays, movie night for me, a few hours ago the horror classic The Blob was on, the version in color no less.

Hmmm... I miss them. Had a great time making out. The mystery of kissing and holding hands and just having fun. Not worrying about the future. Then I turned 18 and had to join the military before I got drafted... still ended up in nam...lol. those were the happy days. Its amazing how its 48 years later and all the drive ins are gone. Casinos taking there place... you couldn't buy a job in this town back then. Now industry can't find enough skilled craftsmen to handle all the work load. They built man camps all over the place to house the out of town labor force.

???? let's all go to the lobby....

Oh man, now you're talking about my youth. Bad sound, rain, rotten food from the canteen and a picture that was basic at best, freeze your ass off during winter, what could beat that? Well, there was the girl and you in the back seat. 🙂 That might have had something to do with it. In my case I can even boast that my father was a part owner of a suburban drive-in and we didn't have to pay. Never made much money, but it cool saying we owned one. Fun days. It was the best excuse young guys and gals had to go somewhere and make out.

now that is a memory

Me and my girlfriend snuck in in the back of my brother's van. There were other goings-on back there as well. I have a longer story about another drive-in adventure when we were all tripping, but I'll save that one.

don't save it too long

@michaelj It's a pretty long story, and I don't know where to post it.

Destroyed by the insanity of daylight savings time. For golfers.

Spending weekends on an inflatable raft drinking warm iced tea and SunChips with my bff in the middle of the bay on the lake. Waving at the boys when they boated by. The smell of sunscreen.

In college, 1970-03, friends used to pile into the trunk, or we'd turn off the headlights and come in through the drive-in's exit, to avoid paying.

Weird, since drive-in prices were already cheap, but we were usually close to broke.

Till they installed backward acting spike strips, really ripped the shit out of a tire, ask my buddy Mark, he knows. lol

@buzz13 Ouch!

Sadly I've never been to a drive in; only the theater movies

@Morganfreeman perhaps; I dislike driving but maybe a trip with a friend

find one and go. create a memory

Depends on the crowd and theater but it can be fun to go early. Pack food, drinks, football, frisbee, lawn chairs, sleeping bags.

That IS sad....😟

Yep, many fond memories. Some wholesome, others not-so-much.
