It impoverished India by destroying the textile trade there in order to promote its own nascent industry. In the physical British crown itself, the most valuable jewel was one of the innumerable items stolen from India. Britain then further enriched itself by becoming a nation of dope-pushers, forcing the Chinese government to accept the sale of Opium in the Opium Wars. It then proceeded to steal oil from the Mideast. Etc. Etc...
