In a thousand years or so when the twentieth century is listed under ancient history someone is going to come across the hobbit and lord of the rings then some future archeologist / anthropologist is going to visit New Zealand and find the ruins of middle earth and people of the future are going to say hey, that was real history, not just a story.

I seriously question if there will be any humans left to look into the past and if there were they will be few to care. It will only be about survival and trying to undo the damage their predecessors have caused.

@DonaldHRoberts Every thing I have read as said when a species gets down to a certain level all organization or culture evaporates. Humans are not nearly as tough as cockroaches and cockroaches don't destroy their habitat.
