"To accommodate tourism and business demands, some of the city's majestic temples and traditional wooden machiya town houses are coming down, and hotels and office buildings are springing up. " What exactly do the authorities think the tourists are coming to see, and if they are worried about the crowds, surely they need as many tourist hot spots as possible to disperse them.
