I saw my first butterfly of 2018 on Saturday. This is the Eastern comma butterfly (Polygonia comma).

now that is something totally new to me, @Insectra! hibernating butterflies - i never knew that's an option for these fragile beings.
I like the way they imitate a dry leaf when the wings are folded and orange and black when open.

This funny looking "butterfly" : D landed on me during a camping trip last summer. A friend of mine nearly had a heart attack when he saw it.
