I actually have petted a real tiger, but it was a cub, not a full grown tiger. There was a guy in town who used to have a private zoo with a couple of tigers, and the tigress had given birth to two cubs. When they were a couple of months old, the zoo owner would bring them out and let people pet them, which they seemed to like. I was mildly amazed at how rough their fur was. A year or two later, the city pulled the guy's permit, and he had to sell the animals to other zoos out of town.
