Aww, such a cute kitty.

My big black cat took over a year to get there - and never looked back.
The orange and white one loves the lap and the tuxie? Well now and then she'll find my lap but... she prefers to grab some of my hair (By laying on the top of my chair) or to wrap around an ankle at night. lol

Once they find out how warm you are and how nice it is? They never go back.

That’s the best thing.

My older cat comes up on my lap whenever my laptop plays something, like she wants to see it too. The rest of the time she prefers my desk chair. I'm no the sofa with my feet up. She's weird. The other cat mostly ignores us or lays down on the floor in the exact spot I will put my feet down in. They're weird and they're mine!

Just about every cat I have owned over the years, have been lap cats. Just one, wold sit next to me on the couch. One winter day I was sitting on the couch with a fleece blanket on my lap, that was the moment, she turned into a lap cat !
