I'm so torn on ferals. I hate the impact they have on small wild animals, but I love cats.

A few years ago, I was feeding one regularly. It was a beautiful long-haired tabby. She wouldn't let me or anyone get close to her for over a year. Suddenly one day while I was sitting on my porch, she jumped onto my lap and went to sleep.

LOL This is the sort of "feral" behavior that got cats domesticated in the first place. That and "OMG, look at what it is doing to the mice in the granary!" no doubt.

There's a cat just like this one that I see frequently. I believe he/she belongs to a neighbor though. It makes me sad that they let their cat out in the winter.
