@Beowulfsfriend there have always been B-52s stationed there. Nobody wants to say but there may be several dozen there already before these 6 were moved. Lot better than keeping them in Minot ND.

@moosepucky I was there a couple generations ago. There is another, smaller island nearby with a butt load of electronics and towers. Not on Google maps. I only passed through for a couple of nights. The airfield is huge though, we were in a C5 on the way in from Oman and then again on the way out. That was the only place I went through customs.

@moosepucky I spent 5 years in SAC, which no longer exists, a new Strategic command has eveolved out of it.

@glennlab my only dealings with SAC was when I was in a collage meteorology program in 1974 in Colorado. We would release balloons and the boys in Cheyne mountain would track and send us the details so we could do our weather forecast .
