Growing up a freethinker, I've understood that a lot of what I was hearing from powerful entities was bullshit. It's not even disguised very well, but people respond to hearing what they want to hear. I've seen Republicans and Democrats lie and finagle. I've always had to vote for the lesser of 2 evils in my country. That 2 party arrangement should disqualify the US as a civilized nation. It's just voting on the White House theme. I've always voted Democrat, because I don't like country music. However, I've managed to avoid vocal Democrats in my underground life. Interacting with them online has been as pleasant as interacting with Republicans. I can't tell the difference.

America has done some good, plenty of bad, and it all depends on your prospective as to what was good and what was bad and whether it was great or not.

That and the music. Some good stuff came out of that decade
I think the music was better than the interior decorating.
