I blame modern medicine. Many of these people wouldn't have survived childhood.

@David1955 We're Aussies,it comes naturally. I think it stems from convict beginnings ie forced to make the most of a shit situation. But hey, I was born in Adelaide! And you're from SA too, so of course our background were free settlers! hahaha.
@MsDemeanour yep. Mine came out mid 19th C, both sides. One family side the boat wrecked off the coast and they scrambled ashore. I've been following in the family tradition ever since - wreckage followed by survival.
Agreed. Further respect for my country is lost every time I think of women and then minorities that voted for Trump, and have continued to back him through his xenophobic policies in action and preference for ever more sexist criminals in positions of power.
Regardless of your political colours, there has never been a more self-serving, so dishonourable man in the history of American presidency. The world feels your pain. You deserve better.

It is at least reassuring every time someone abroad says they feel for the USA. We may have many idiots, but everyone outside seems to agree with the view the biggest idiot of all was put at the helm.
Trump has yet to even consider the possibility of visiting USA troops anywhere abroad.
