Was his claim false in that he knew all along it couldn’t be changed? Or was he being idealistic in thinking it could? Or is he just a capitalist with a heart who always knew it couldn’t be changed and strung people along? I would like to think he was being idealistic, actually believing that a people’s revolution could force the change. It happened once before in American history, when the muckrakers and the workers & unions brought down the oligarchy and transformed the working place and people’s lives. I like to believe that’s what he was thinking. Of course back then the media, while supporting wars, wasn’t an omnificent force.
