25 March 2019 - Diet Diary - Two day report, yesterday was a 1122 intake, today was 1247 Not bad numbers, not a lot of response from the scale. I have to remember to be persistent. Getting discouraged and taking a couple of binge days defeats the purpose. I got away from the intermittent fasting, need to get back to doing that. I was ending my eating period at 8 PM, without that limitation, I sometimes end up grabbing some snack item late, like a little trail mix (NOT low cal food) or a few peanuts 😟 If I stop at 8 PM, those things usually get a pass.

Working on layout for the kitchen tiles. I have 2 colors, one for the center part, a darker for the perimeter. Problem is there is a jog where the stove sits, and at the end of the peninsula so have to decide best layout for those areas. After the kitchen, the rest will be laminate flooring which I think will be easier to put in than the kitchen floor. I hope so anyway. Need to do some sanding of the plaster repairs on the wall before turning in so bye for now.

You are such a hard worker. I really admire your persistence.I have decided that despite there being no change in my circumstances, I have got to at least try and do something about my weight so I am making a start. The way that suits me best is fasting alternate days, keeping within 1000 calories the other days, and giving myself one day off a week. It has worked a couple of times before and I have got my weight right down. I don't know if I shall be able to do it given that food is just about the only pleasure I have but I am going to try. I need to lose about 20 kilos which is about 45 pounds so I will keep you inform ed about progress.

I'm really wishing you the best on your efforts. Sounds like you have a reasonable plan. I am not an advocate for any specific diet program other than avoiding anything too extreme. If something works for you, that is what counts. I understand about the role of food in your life. It has been a comfort and a pleasure for me much of my life as well. When things aren't going well or I'm faced with disappointment, sadness or frustration, turning to some comfort food is like an instinct. I don't know how, or even if we can get over that. It seems to be trained into us from an early age.

It does help if you have something else that gives you a little pleasure, even if it is just getting out of the house for a little while or scrunching into a quiet place with a book or taking time to sit in a sunny window. It is not always easy to come up with little self rewards but look hard for them and keep reminding yourself that you deserve to have more than food to give you happiness and pleasure. Make a point of looking for at least one thing every day that gives you a little boost.

I'll look forward to hearing how your progress is going. If you need a cheer squad now and then just drop in, you will find one here.

@DotLewis It's going well so far though I am only on day three.A good sign is that I stayed up late last night reading and didn't snack. I read an interesting article a while back that maintained that will-power strengthens with use, so I am hoping that is true! Though I seem to have the will-power to do anything but lose weight. I will keep in touch and use this site as a reward.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
