Thank you
Many of you knew me only as “Admin.” My name is Andrew Conru. I kept myself anonymous simply because I didn’t want my background to be part of it. I started Agnostic.com in 2017, in part because I was trying to figure out my own relationship with religion at the same time.
It was originally going to be just about religion and non-belief, but over the years it became a haven for people to talk about much more. The diversity of posts and comments we engaged in was really interesting, and I learned a lot from different viewpoints.
More than 190,000 people joined. You wrote over 700,000 posts and 5 million replies and comments, and started more than 1,300 groups. As Admin, from 2017 into 2022, I wrote more than 400 posts and 6,500 replies and comments, started 17 groups, and made more than 100,000 moderation decisions.
Those years were turbulent, politically and around religion. I heard you and I listened. There was a lot of mutual respect, and I really appreciated it. It was a lot of fun, honestly more fun than Twitter or Facebook ever was for me. It was an honor to meet so many of you and hear your stories.
As for me, I call myself a Christian, maybe not in the way a devout Christian would. I’m still agnostic about it, and I see value in religion.
After a while, running the site became too much alongside everything else, and reality and time moved forward. By 2025 it had grown quiet. I hope the site helped people, as a safe, moderated place to express yourself.
It was a lovely time. Maybe someday we’ll build another one.
