Ever look around at what kind of workouts people are up to at the gym? Often times I get lots of peep freaks watching me a little, I have a solid routine that sort of deviates, but it's from being a gym rat, for many years, but I just do it, and add things, sometimes add more weight if I have time to get all bulky.
Anyway, the gym douche is a real guy, he's got headphones, he's texting, he's flexing and got this bozo look on his face, his hat is backwards and says 'beast' on the back. A couple weeks ago, hes waiting to use some equipment I'm on and I just take my time as he stands there annoyed I'm using something he wants to use. Yesterday, he has a 25lb dumbell and is doing bicep curls slowly with it, seemed like all he was doing, besides running back to this corner and looking at his phone some more. Sometimes guys will come to the gym like this and only go for like two months, but I think this guy is like some girls with the but exercises, girls will go and just do these but workouts to get a better looking but in yoga pants and guys will just do these bicep exercises so they can stand around dance clubs looking like the stay puff Marshmellow man. Guess everyone is working on the bod, since there at they weight room, but what are ya gonna do that's just how people are I guess.
gym equipment is bulky and heavy. home apparatus isn't the same. it's a general assumption, i think, that people go to a gym to have a variety of professional equipment. those who monopolize equipment by just sitting, texting or whatever are depriving others of use.
So, I guess I'm a "peep freak"?
If I see someone doing a new exercise or the kind of lifting I do, but in a different way, I'll watch them for a bit.
Hope this is not actually super poor gym etiquette, but I'm there to learn and improve myself.
??
One of the best ways to learn.
my pet peeve are the so-called exercisers who tie up a piece of equipment for minute -- ps consulting their Iphone. one set of reps, then it's the Iphone and then repeat. I'm there without phone to exercise -- period
If you're bothered by "gym egos - which apparently you are....buy a few decent pieces and work out at home.
But young people enjoy the interaction. Some feed on it, depend on it. Just don't obsess about it.
if you're just going to stalk the views...then you should strongly consider a home workout. You'll get known as a stalker....and you don't want that rep...
@Davethecave Sorry Dave; It's not that you "struck a nerve" it's that I can see you're obviously bothered by many who attend the gym. I was merely suggesting an alternative to help you escape the gym and get a good workout.
What makes you categorize some as 'peep freaks"?
And....what, exactly, is a gym douche?
And from what I've seen, women work out at gyms...not girls.
...sorry to see you're obviously obsessed with categorizing and judging gym goers...
but enjoy the time and money spent! I wish you well. I stopped going decades ago...
When you're serious about getting fit; I recommend a Bowflex, an elliptical, and a total gym.
At home. But then you won't have "girls" or "peep freaks" or a "Gym douche" audience...Sounds like you relish it?

Posted by SilviaParkI had my first triathlon in Sunday, an indoor USATri60. Lots of room for improvement, but I'm just a beginner swimmer, and haven't taken my bike on the road yet :)
