A new edition of the Pearl of Great Price was published, in which the introduction to the BOA was rewritten, now claiming that Holy Joe did NOT directly translate the book of Abraham from the papyri, but made an INSPIRED translation, simply using the Egyptian funeral texts to channel the book.
This is of course a lie.
The church even has Joseph'smyth's translation lexicon, written by himself while translating and giving the meaning of each individual hieroglyph (some of which translate to a whole paragraph of bad English).
But this is now the official line of the church.
It has even been rumoured lately that the POGP is actually going the same way as the journal of discourses, it being so embarrassing, it is being used and referred to less and less in preparation for it's removal from the standard works in the next few years and relegation to historical curiosity.
