If you're traveling through the Southwestern US, Southern New Mexico has a number of places that feature natural Hot Springs and almost all can be enjoyed nude, in public. Faywood Hot springs is just a few miles south of Silver City, New Mexico and features large areas of natural pools fed by underground hot springs- most of the pools welcome people who want to soak in the nude. Its a lovely, very natural area though a bit off the beaten track.
Its a popular area for both those who are pure naturists as well as non-monogamous couples and groups who wish to camp together.

@Cutiebeauty... AncientNight is correct - most clothing optional resorts are located away from well populated areas...for obvious reasons.
The venue I'm talking about is well staffed and as safe for you as it would be for you to go to your local movie theater. There are no venues 100 percent safe......but this one is worth a visit.
@dgmelp, @AncientNight I don't actually go to nude beaches.. I sunbathe in the nude in my backyard pool with a privacy fence 
@Cutiebeauty I tell people when they go to clothing optional places, nude beaches or hot springs that it is best to go with a friend, partially for conversation, but it is also a good idea for safety. I've gone to nude beaches with women many times because they wanted someone else there to feel safe. As I am a gay man, I myself was not a threat.
Generally my advice to women is to find a gay man or group of gay men, or a friend you can trust to hang with when going to nude places.
