The most happy St. John's i ever saw was completely light coverred. It was the southwest corner of property with no shade.
i commented on this before but it said it wasn't active. So here is my thoughts.
How much sun? They do really well with morning shade and afternoon sun. In the picture is the west side wall, lots of flower buds ready to open. As soon as this is done blooming it gets cut back. Should have done it last year but i love the flower show...lol
