I have been tending six milkweed plants and today I was rewarded: i saw the first Monarch butterfly in my garden. It was darker than I expected, and i will have to watch the chihuahuas. They both leapt up trying to catch the butterfly.

I have a familyhistory of silkworm farming, not quite the same but related. There the focus is on the caterpillar and cocoon. The moth is the undesired result of not paying attention.
Remember the line from the old song "The dog and the Butterfly??
