Rain, rain go away! We have experisnced record rainfall here in north Texas for Fall. 23+ inches so far and we are only about halfway through the season. More is expected before winter is officially here. We are already at record levels. I planted irises I had bought on-line and I'm afraid it has been too wet for them. We'll have to wait and see. I had also hoped to get a couple lemon cucumbers from a Fall planting since summer heat is so hard on plants here. But the cucumber plants appear to have stopped growing, and some aren't looking any too good. Too much water.

We've had plenty, but not nearly as much as you. I took off my irrigation timers and shut down the main cutoff valve to our system about 10 days ago. Waaaay to much rain.

Irises are sometimes planted in water garden pools , although my guess is different varieties may do better than others . But don't give up on them yet ! On the other hand , Irises generally require a period of cold weather . I don't see them blooming in Houston .

Mine are the German bearded iris and too much water can cause the rhizomes to rot. Mine have bloomed better or worse year to year, but at least some bloom every year so far. I'm not giving up on them, just concerned. Reports are we have more rain coming.

@RussRAB You could dig them up , and place them in your fridge for the winter , then replant them in the spring .

Gardening is challenging when the weather doesn't cooperate.
