What kind of orchid is the shaggy thing?

???
The one outside the window?

@Heidi68 No the 4 legged one. lol (being silly)

@JackPedigo that's what I meant by the one outside the window ? that is a sable yorkie monster orchid ?

@Heidi68 I missed the window picture at first glance.

Nice!! I tried to grow an orchid once, did not go well. Now I have young cats. I have mostly given up on house plants.

Lucky for me my cat is a barn cat ? she comes in when she feels like but prefers the garage or the barn.

@Heidi68 I have house cats. During the winter when I had 8 inches of snow on my deck I opened the door so they could check out the snow. One of them didn't even venture out. The younger one took about 3 steps out into the snow, shook off her feet, and scurried back into the house. Yeah, mine are pampered babies.

@HippieChick58 even my crazy Yorkies love the snow & the couch & my lap & the bed & my snacks & ..... ???

It's an addiction. I had probably three hundred plants and ornamental trees spread out over three acres. The majority of them from the side of the road or clearance sales. Seems I have a very green thumb.

Wow! That is impressive! I have 10.5 acres but most is woods and I am leaving it that way. Part is pasture for the horses and I get the small front yard & house ?

@Heidi68 , this was on a wooded lot. You would be amazed at the number of shade loving plants. Bleeding hearts and astilbes are two of my favorites. Daffodils will bloom anyplace. Eight varieties.

What's the problem? You like beautiful things, I don't see that as a problem....

I seriously need to win the lottery. You know so I can take care of all my pretty things ?

I would say it's an addiction; quite common among orchid lovers. And I just discovered that, depending on the genus, it could be about edibles. I never realized that vanilla comes from the Vanilla Orchid. Learn something new every day.

Interesting!

Nothing wrong with an addiction to orchids. It takes special attention; not over nor under watering....just the right amount of light....I used to have many - then I moved...I can't grow them here....too close to the beach? Not sure why...I'm on the shady side of the building....the patio gets too hot in summer? Anyway....kudos on your collection!

Thank you - it is so much fun watching them go from just leaves to the beautiful flowers

I;m sure there's a better way to express an orchid addiction , especially when you can keep them not only alive , but blooming as well .

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
